Dad’s Guitars

Growing up, I always liked to hang out with my dad while he worked.
Whether it was following him with my wagon while he mowed the lawn, to riding my “Big Wheel”
on the newly poured foundation of our house, to riding in the wheelbarrow as he hauled firewood,
to racing around the unfinished house on my tricycle, to melting crayons into colorful volcanos &
whittling scrap pieces of wood in his workshop.  I always wanted to be there……….”helping.”
At the time, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, I thought my dad was really cool, but I mean……
Don’t all dads have beards?  Don’t all dads build their family a house?  Don’t all dads make guitars?
It wasn’t until I got older and saw more of the world and realized, “Ooooooh, my Dad IS pretty unique!”
He built his first guitar in his bedroom while in college and has been creating them ever since!
What an incredible amount of skill, creativity, time, money, and passion he puts into it.
I am continually impressed.
I had been wanting to photograph my dad in his workshop, and when Northwest Workshop
wanted to do a feature article about him, I made the photo shoot happen!
Northwest Workshop is a blog created by Sara Huntley featuring articles about home cooking,
recipes, food, crafts, life skills, and local artisans.  Take a look at my dad’s article here:

This is so awesome, it brings me to tears.

Suzy & Joey’s Wedding

What an absolutely wonderful wedding day!  Suzy and Joey were WAY too fun and easy going,
and were so hospitable to all of their guests & vendors, especially when they had so much to think about!
I’m not sure how many times they asked me “Are you sure you don’t want a drink?”  Haha!
I think Joey had one of the best reactions I have ever seen during the first look.  It was amazing to witness
the love these two share.  Congratulations Suzy & Joey- you guys are seriously the perfect match for each other!!
This was the second wedding I have shot at the beautiful Maroni Meadows in Snohomish, WA.
And this was the third wedding I photographed with Cassie Pepper in 2014, and it was such a good time!
I hope we get to shoot more together in 2015!! :)

Susan & Tim’s Anniversary

Susan and Tim decided to spend their 30th anniversary at the Stephanie Inn at Cannon Beach, Oregon
and document the occasion with photos!  They were up for anything, and weren’t afraid to dance in the ocean
in their nice clothes!  I really admired their “why not – you only live once” attitudes.  You may recognize Susan
from a photo shoot I did with her last year at the Thornewood Castle!

Emily

This is my sister!  She is days away from meeting her little baby girl. :)
I was very excited to document this fleeting time in her life –
she is right on the cusp of having her life be completely different,
in such an amazing way.  I know that Emily & John are going to be
such wonderful parents.  I am really excited to become Auntie Hannie!

Heather & Ryan’s Wedding

I absolutely loved every aspect of Heather & Ryan’s wedding!
It was a perfect November day………perfect temperature, perfect lighting, no rain.
Right when I asked how they could have possibly picked this perfect day,
some hot air balloons came up over the horizon!
My favorite part of photographing a wedding is doing the portraits of just the bride & groom.
Heather & Ryan were amazing together – you could totally see the love that they share, they were
both excited to try every one of my ideas, and we sure laughed a lot in the process 😉
Venue: Hidden Meadows, Snohomish
